Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an editor and writer, as were Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is a self-described Jewish and descends from Ryder's Jewish father. She is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sister is Uria. Ryder's parents moved her along with her siblings to Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. In those days, there wasn't electricity. There was no television books was her only source of entertainment for her time, and she became an avid reader. Ryder took acting classes at the age of Ryder was twelve years old, in the American Conservatory Theatre. In 1986, she got her first big-screen role in the film Lucas when she was just 15 years old. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Ryder hoped her career in acting would change the way she dealt with bullying. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. Beetlejuice which was a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder continued to be successful in her characters in numerous films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
