Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. She is currently the president and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon, and later the proprietor of Lakers as well as other companies. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated when her parents separated in the year 1972. When she was 19, she was employed for the family's business. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers She was also the president of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and the ownership for the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family which gave each sibling the same vote. Buss assumed the role as the head for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling organization based at Los Angeles.
